One Room Challenge Week 3 Boys/Guest Room

Noni

It’s going by so fast! This is week 3 for the One Room Challenge and it was all about priming and painting! Be sure to check out last weeks progress here and see all the ugly before!

Now, I know there will be a lot of people saying that it’s almost sinful to paint log walls or the interior of a cabin. I get that, I really do and if they were a different color (not so orange and dark!) I would have left them but I am highly responsive to my surroundings and trust me when I say, these walls really started driving me cray cray. I was really surprised Levi wanted to paint them and even volunteered to do the whole job. Like woah, how do I say nah to that?!

We used the best primer out there. When painting over stain, especially dark old stain you need to make sure you have a primer that won’t let the stain bleed through. We tried a couple other primers and that’s exactly what they did so that’s why we chose this primer.

We had to do it by hand, which I won’t lie, it was a pain. We have used it on all the walls we have painted in this house.

After he did one coat of primer we were dying to try this sprayer from Home Right* because we used a bigger sprayer previously and it was SO much work to use and it sprayed it on so heavily. The Home Right sprayer has you dilute the paint which was pretty easy to figure out and do. Levi sprayed 2 coats total with the exception of a few areas that needed more. We were so happy with how easy it was to use and how FAST it went!

So super great progress. We also had a lot of extra barn wood so we trimmed out all the windows and doors with it, mostly just to save money but I ended up really liking how it looks in there. This style is also a great idea if you don’t have fancy tools to do alot of angled cuts, just straight ends required. The clock and the painting were just testers, to see how they would look in there!

Before I go, I need some help deciding on how to cover this window. (the small one next to the closet) I want to do a sliding barnwood cover cuz it would just be cute, but I don’t think Levi is on board. What do you think? Worth convincing him?

Last weeks progress is here. It’s gotten ALOT prettier! Can’t wait to see you next week!
