Iron during Pregnancy
So I don’t know if I have mentioned this or not, but I am 25 weeks pregnant! I am due on April 22nd 2013. I didn’t tell people right away because we wanted to wait until we got past the first 12 weeks but then even after that I kept hearing stories of so many women losing their babies even at 22 weeks! So we only let really close family know. And I have been wearing alot of big bulky sweaters and coats because it has been so cold here that no one has even noticed I am showing. (until I hit 22 weeks!) But I am huge now, I don’t think I can hide it much longer nor do I think I need to, I feel pretty confident that everything is fine and going to be ok. I am going to do a post on everything that I did/took to make it a little easier on me at the beginning and even now. But for now I have to say that one of the first things I took was this amazing stuff:
I started out getting pretty sick in the first 6 weeks. On the 7th week I started taking this and seriously I thought I lost my baby somehow because all my symptoms went away. I freaked out. I scheduled an ultrasound appointment as soon as I could because I DID NOT want to wait to find out. Man, it was a long week wait! The only reason why I got an appointment so soon was because I had been there in March for a miscarriage and I told them I was scared the same thing was happening. The ultrasound tech was such a pro and so nice and I felt very calm with her even though I got choked up when she found the babys’ strong heartbeat. It was the most relieving feeling in the world.
Anemia runs in my family and that’s why I started taking this, my vitamins had iron in it, but I felt like I was pretty dang low on iron since I couldn’t go upstairs to my room without feeling like I was going to black out. Also low iron levels can contribute to a miscarriage and I wanted to avoid that again! That was the only thing I did differently and I felt so much better. My morning sickness was practically gone, my gums stopped bleeding (gross, I know) I slept better and didn’t feel so weak all the time.
I have always been a firm believer in natural health and that if you are having crazy pregnancy symptoms, SOME of the time it is likely due to some sort of deficiency but it takes some researching to figure out what it could be. I know everyone is different and responds differently to everything but hopefully this can be helpful to someone out there.

You didn't tell me you had those same signs. That is really scary! I was worrying too though! But I did my praying every night for you! 🙂 I'm glad you starting taking that iron!

Yes, I still take it, especially after the delivery when you lose blood. I felt pretty weak afterwards and hoping that this will make a difference.
